Elementary Music - Melissa Collins

 
Melissa Collins  teaches general music to pre-kindergarten through fourth grade. She also teaches recorders to fourth graders, and she directs the elementary chorus. She is an active member of the Middle Tennessee American Orff-Schulwerk Association (MTAOSA), The National Association for Music Education (MENC), Middle Tennessee Elementary Music Education Association (MTEMEA), and Middle Tennessee Vocal Association (MTVA).

Melissa Collins is a native of Opelika, Alabama. She graduated from Lipscomb University in 2004 with a degree in music teaching and a minor in Spanish. Her first teaching job was at Middle Tennessee Christian School, where she taught general music, band, and chorus for two years. She came to Lipscomb Elementary School in 2006 and thoroughly enjoys her work here. Melissa is also currently pursuing a graduate degree from Lipscomb University in Instructional Leadership.

In addition to her busy teaching schedule, Melissa plays clarinet in the Nashville Wind Ensemble. She also enjoys singing and playing piano and recorders. Some of her non-musical hobbies include racquetball, aerobics, swimming, spending time with her pets, and reading.
